General Information

Gasthaus zum Rudi is situated on Eggeralm (1.420m), a high plateau with several alpine huts and directly on the route of the KHW and the Via Alpina.

The third-generation hosts serve their guests solely regional produce and traditional dishes. Hearty, rustic and natural is the guideline in the kitchen with dishes including ‘Rudis Frigga Pfandl’ - a traditional lumberjack’s meal - one of the favourites from their menu. Accommodation includes lovingly decorated single, double or triple rooms as well as bunk rooms.

This hut is also open during the winter months. Nestled in a wonderful winter wonderland the area is perfect for snow shoeing, cross country ski touring and tobogganing on the 9 km tobogganing run. Full moon hikes are also very popular.

After the action-packed experiences of Nassfeld enjoy the tranquillity of these alpine pastures. Along with the beautiful lake Eggeralm, the peak of Poludnig (1.999 m) is also close by. On a clear day the view from Egger Alm is spectacular with visibility all the way to the Dolomites, Venediger Gruppe, Hohe Tauern and Julian Alps.

Next Stage

The next closest accommodation along the KHW is the Dolinza Alm. Egger Alm to Dolinza Alm is a long hike of nearly 20 km, which is do-able in approximately 7 hours. The nearest rest stop along the way is Gasthaus Starhand – approx. 3.5 hrs on foot.
